REVIEW : VEGA --- Only Human (Frontiers Music s.r.l., May 2018)

I just love this band! In my humble opinion, these U.K melodic rockers are one of the best bands from England over the last decade!! They achieve to combine perfectly the old-school of melodic hard rock with a more fresh and modern approach that makes each and every single album to flow into perfection.

In the band's own words : "We wear our love of 80's rock music on our sleeve, but we also have injected our love of modern rock music to it. We aren't trying to rehash anything: the sound we have achieved is 100% VEGA. We didn't want to try and guess what people expect and get it wrong," !!! I totally agree with the guys here!!

Nowadays, Vega is back in business with album number 5 with the title "Only Human" through Frontiers Music s.r.l. Once again Vega offers their well-known big melodies, strong arrangements, big hooks and choruses and their tight musicianship that makes "Only Human" another gem in their already superb discography.

It's time for the first sample of the new VEGA album; "Let's Have Fun Tonight" is the opener and, man, it's awesome! Edgy, modern, up-tempo and ballsy, this track sounds like the perfect appetizer of what's to follow! "Worth Dying For" and "Last Man Standing" are both classic Vega tunes and includes big melodies, clever arrangements and catchy choruses to sing-a-long for days. "Come Back Again" is a more U.S. flavored rocker while in "All Over Now" we are dealing with the absolute highlight here! It's one of those tunes that made Vega famous; melodic with this incredible memorable hook and chorus that sticks into your mind and makes you whistle it again and again.

"Mess You Made", the commercial "Only Human" and the superb power ballad of "Standing Still" are all three excellent songs filled with emotions. At this point, I have to say that the vocals of Nick Workman are top notch and, in general, the whole band sounds tighter and stronger than ever!! The album continues with the modern and edgy rocker of "Gravity", the AOR-ish "Turning Pages" and the rocking "Fade Away" (that reminds Bryan Adams' earlier works). Last but not least, we have "Go To War" which closes this gem of an album perfectly!!!

VEGA did it again!! Yes, this amazing U.K melodic rock band proves once again why it's considered one of the best of its kind. "Only Human" is a record that sounds perfect from start to finish. Melodic, powerful, emotional, modern, up-tempo and ballsy "Only Human" will kick your ass!

Rating : 10/10
